We offer large bars of handmade soap made from oils of olive, coconut, palm, jojoba, almond and castor. Our soaps sell very well at the Old Picket Fence Shop in downtown Noblesville. The Old Picket Fence Shop has 4,400 square feet of home decor, fabulous! Our large, handmade soaps average between 5.5 and 6 oz wt.
Please note that we do not use soybean in our handmade soaps. We do use it in our candles, but I don't want to use it in the soaps. Yes, shortening is conditioning, but it is an inexpensive filler that results in a bar of soap that can turn rancid on you (shorter shelf life). We just don't use it in our soaps. We also don't use lard or animal fat. I'm sorry to say that I will not compete with bars of soap at $1.99 and $2. I will not compromise on the quality of our soaps by selecting lesser quality oils. When I hand the package over to you at the Farmer's Market, or if you buy from one of our retailers, I want you to know you are getting the best of the work of my hands. $3.95 is our price, for a bar of soap that by ingredient description, sells elsewhere for $5 to $6. If I added soybean, I could drop the price to $2.50, but I just can't. Nor will I substitute olive for cheaper oils (canola or soybean) in my recipe. There, I'm off my soapbox. :) We use a lot of olive oil in our soaps! It's also one of the most expensive oils, but we use it primarily because it's one of the best oils to use in soapmaking. Jojoba is an ester wax with the pH closest to the skin's own pH. Castor is a humectant. Cocoa butter is conditioning. Palm adds hardness and makes the soap last longer. Olive is gentle. Grapeseed is used by massage therapists because the molecules of this oil are smaller and thus absorb more readily into the skin. Our handmade soaps will never contain lard, animal fat or soybea
n shortening. We will support our farmers by putting our soybean into our candles. We sell quite a few candles at the Farmer's Market to repeat customers. Come by and see! I've been making soap now for 10+ years (actually 13 years) and have loved every single moment of creating and selling it to you!
We have good news. Stoney Creek Farms in Noblesville will be carrying our soaps starting in September! Look on their website. They have a wonderful Fall show that is great to attend with your family.
We look forward to continuing to supply Noblesville, Indiana and beyond with high quality, large bars of handmade soap.
